REET MUST SHAPE UP TO SECURE STAGS SPOT
Evening Post, 16 May 2007

Danny Reet could yet have a Mansfield future - but only if he shapes up ahead of the new season.

The teenage striker was loaned out to Rochdale towards the end of season.

Although he appeared from the bench, he failed to earn a first-team start.

But Stags boss Billy Dearden has left the door open for him.

"I thought Danny would get more football at Rochdale, but it was only the same as if he had been here," he said.

"We know he has ability, but he has to get himself fit for the start of next season if he wants to make a living from the game."

Dearden revealed Giles Coke is making good progress from his knee injury.

The midfielder was ruled out for the season in January.

Dearden said: "Coke has improved and we are hopeful he will start pre-season with the rest of the squad."
