PERRY BID STILL ON
2nd December 2006 16:02

PERRY IN MOVE ON STAGS
Evening Post, 02 December 2006

Andy Perry today stepped up his bid to take over Mansfield Town, insisting he is poised to make a firm offer to buy-out current owner Keith Haslam.

Talk of Perry bidding to take control of the club was first mooted last season. His company, Perry Electrical, is the club's shirt sponsor.

Mr Perry, reaffirming his interest, said in a statement: "We (Mr Perry and his adviser) have made an initial approach to Keith Haslam to purchase Mansfield Town Football Club.

"Initial talks have taken place and, as far as we are concerned, we are still in talks in seeking to come to a mutually acceptable agreement. We are waiting for further details to be given.

"Once all the final details have been received, an offer will be made to Keith Haslam."

Mr Perry stressed his bid was not in conjunction with Team Mansfield, though he would been keen to work alongside fans' groups should he take control.

He told the Post: "I want to move things along, the sooner the better.

"We have been in discussions with Mr Haslam and we do know what he wants for the club. But, obviously, that has to remain confidential at this stage."

STAGS sponsor Andy Perry today stressed his offer to buy the football club was still on the table and he is hoping things will progress very soon.

Mr Perry was surprised to hear club chief executive Keith Haslam say in a radio interview that he had only had one offer for the club six months ago from someone outside the area which Mr Haslam didn't consider right for the club at the time.
A statement from Mr Perry and his advisors today said: "We have made an initial approach to Keith Haslam to purchase Mansfield Town Football Club and this approach has not been rejected.
"Initial talks have taken place and, as far as we are concerned, we are still in talks in seeking to come to a mutually acceptable agreement.
"We are at present waiting for further details to be given to ourselves which we have been informed are forthcoming.
"Once the final details have been received, an offer will be made to Keith Haslam."
