Palmer - I'm going to go away and decide what I want to do on Monday, because that was an embarrassment. If that's the best that I can expect from an 11 that I put out, then there's a problem somewhere. That's the way I feel at the moment and I'll see what happens over the weekend. The side showed no *edited*. We were poor and there's no explanation for that.

CARLTON SAYS HE'S CONSIDERING HIS POSITION

Chester 3 v 1 Mansfield

Chester boss Keith Curle was delighted to put one over his old club as Mansfield were beaten 3-1 at the Saunders Honda Stadium.

Curle watched on with satisfaction as Greg Blundell scored twice and Ryan Lowe added a third in a one-sided game.

He said: "The level of performance and commitment was superb.

"The players knew it was an important game. A few of us are former Mansfield men, but we kept it low-key all week. We knew we had to come together as a team.

"The good thing is that we're playing entertaining football and the attendances are creeping up week after week."

Mansfield boss Carlton Palmer is pondering his future after this bad defeat.

The visitors were poor and only had Alex Baptiste's consolation goal to show for their efforts.

Palmer said: "That was an embarrassment. I'll have to go away at the weekend and have a chat with my girlfriend and the chairman about my future because if that's the sort of performance we get then I'll have to look at my position here.

"They're all young lads but we've again failed to deal with a corner kick. To be honest the most solid we've looked was in pre-season when I was playing, and I'm 39, so there has to be something wrong there."
