Notts Swoop For White

Notts Co official site

Notts County Football Club is this morning delighted to announce the signing of striker Andy White.

White is 23 years of age and arrives at Meadow Lane on a one-year contract following his release from Coca-Cola Championship side Crewe Alexandra, for whom he scored four goals for last season in a season that saw them avoid the drop on the final day of the season.

At 6' 4'' Andy is certainly a giant in terms of a centre forward, and will certainly bring height to the attack as he ends Gudjon Thordarson's search for a tall, mean centre forward.

White started his professional career with Mansfield Town in early 2000, and in both appearances for the Stags he has made against Notts, he has scored. He was on target against the Magpies in 2001 with a sweet goal in the Worthington Cup and also scored the opener in a 3-2 win for the Stags in 2002. In total he has seventeen career goals from just over 100 appearances.

He has also had spells with Boston, Kidderminster and Burton Albion on loan, as well as having a short loan spell with Crewe before moving permanently last summer.

His arrival gives Notts plenty of options in attack for next season, and we welcome Andy to Meadow Lane and wish him every success with the club.
