Artell deal thrashed out
CHAD website, 07 July 2005

STAGS central defender Dave Artell looks to have secured his release to join former boss Keith Curle at Chester City.
Artell was the subject of a tug of war last week when it seemed Chester had signed him before Stags had agreed the fee offered.
Chester were subsequently reported to the Football league for their 'illegal approach'.
However Stags today confirmed a deal had been agreed between the clubs and Artell had been released.
No comment was made on the League complaint situation.

Artell bids farewell to Stags
Stags chairman Keith Haslam has agreed a deal with Chester City and has given them permission to speak with the centre half.

Big Dave made his feelings clear as to where he felt future lies when he told Stags Boss Carlton Palmer that he wanted to be released to leave him free to sign for his ex boss Keith Curle at the Deva Stadium.

After some 'misunderstandings' and talks between the chairmen of both clubs a deal was reached late yesterday and permission was granted to for the player to realise his desires and be released.

Artell will be joining team mates Scott McNiven, Tom Curtis and Luke Dimech at Chester and could possibly be lining up against the Stags as early as 2nd September when Mansfield make the journey to the Deva Stadium for the Friday evening game (Kick off 7.45pm)

Curle meanwhile was turning his attention to bolstering his team.

“I'm talking to a centre forward and his agent and I'm there could be some movement with the Dave Artell deal – if their chairman, manager, groundsman and tea-lady can agree it,” said Curle.
