STAGS LINKED WITH LEVER
6th June 2002 17:30

Mansfield Town have expressed an interest in City's transfer-listed centre-back Mark Lever, who was put up for sale early this summer.
The experienced defender has become the first of the five players listed by Bristol City boss Danny Wilson at the end of the season to attract firm interest from another club.
The former Grimsby man might well welcome a return to the North following Wilson's admission that he is seeking to sign a new centre-half this summer.
Lever overcame a knee operation, which ruined his first year at Ashton Gate, to make 30 first-team starts for The Robins last season.
But he was in and out of the side towards the end of the campaign, although he did feature in the final game against Stoke City.
Signed on a free transfer from The Mariners in the summer of 2000, Lever is unlikely to command a fee, so Mansfield's only problem could be satisfying his wage demands if they decide to follow up their interest.
