Stags snap up Foxes' scoreboard
Teamtalk, 1 June 2002
The Stags have swooped to snap up Leicester City's Filbert Street scoreboard for use at Field Mill next season.
With The Foxes moving to new premises next year, a number of items were auctioned off this week and Town chairman Keith Haslam was delighted to hear that his bid had clinched the scoreboard.
He explained: "I know some of our fans have been on about wanting a scoreboard for a while but the high cost of them has been prohibitive.
"They can cost up to £100,000 brand new. But this was a good opportunity for us and we are pleased it's come off."
Now Haslam has to find a home for the board, probably at one end of the Bishop Street stand.
Mansfield did have an electronic scoreboard on the ground some 10 years ago. But a break-in at the ground saw vital operating equipment stolen and it was rendered unusable.
