North Central Conference Under-18:
Macclesfield Youth 0 Stags Youth Team 2 Zaccarius, Lloyd Report from Silky (Macclesfield) and details added by John Street Stags Youth team travelled over the Pennines to a cold, wet and unpleasant Congleton on Saturday morning for this Youth Team League Clash on a glue-pot of a pitch. However this is were the bad news ended, as the young Stags tore at the heart of their hosts. The Stags welcomed back Coates the Welsh Under 19s keeper who was on the bench at the Millenium Stadium in March, and Lloyd who has more recently travelled with the first team squad during their recent injury crisis. Lloyd opened up the Silkmen early on with an excellent deep cross which the home side failed to clear and Zaccarius fired into the roof of the net. Further excellent efforts from Heron, Jones and Lloyd kept the match alive before the break but the Stags football was of excellent quality in the sticky conditions. The second half started with the home side trying to force themselves back into the game with two or three excellent saves from Coates but eventually the classy Stags took control again and the tight lead was extended folllowing a nice passing triangle between Jones, and Arnold ended with Lloyd slipping his man and firing the Stags into a 2 nil lead. The Stags had served up a pre-Christmas delight for their managers, the club and themselves with a fine display and numerous good performances all round.
