Boss wants cash boost
Teamtalk, 23 May 2002
Town's hopes of raising cash for new signings were boosted by news that a Third Division club may speak to transfer-listed Shayne Bradley.
The striker, one of the club's highest wage earners, had an injury-wrecked season last term and, although he still has a year left on his Field Mill contract, was told he can go this summer.
"If Shayne left it would free up some money for us to use elsewhere," said manager Stuart Watkiss.
"With Chris Greenacre 99 per cent certain to leave it also means we need to bring in one or two new strikers.
"We were hoping to line-up a young centre forward from Scotland who finished top scorer in his respective division but we found out yesterday that he had signed a new contract with his club."
Watkiss has also been frustrated in his efforts to sign a Second Division midfield player this week, with the player's club not coming back to him.
He added: "With this being the holiday season, that is a problem you have to put up with and things have not moved as quickly as I would have liked."
