DANNY COMEBACK VOW
21st May 2002 13:08

Striker Danny Bacon says he is ready to fight for a regular first-team place next season after a nightmare year of injuries.
But the 21-year-old, who only managed eight appearances last season, knows it will be a tough test to re-gain his place, even if Chris Greenacre does leave the club this summer as feared.
Bacon said: "Last season was very frustrating and I just want to put it behind me.
"I still have a point to prove here, I know that. And all I can do is do my best when I get in there.
"I have to make my mark. Even if Chris goes I am sure there will be another striker coming in and Andy White did ever so well last season. There will be a lot of competition still.
"But I am really looking forward to it. There are some big matches for us in Division Two, particularly the local derbies, and my ankle is feeling good now after my operation in March."
Meanwhile, Stags boss Stuart Watkiss says he hopes to add to his squad in the next few days.
"I am hoping to enter talks with another possible signing in the next day or two and, if things go our way, we could have it sorted out quickly."
