Notts County Youth 1 Stags Youth Team 2
Sat 30 Oct 2004
Report by John Street.

Stags Youth Team returned to action at Highfields, Nottingham after a couple of weeks break and took the points convincingly.

The visitors flew at the Magpies from the start and had went ahead when Heron was up-ended in the box, and Arnold slotted home from the penalty spot.

The home side only threatened breifly iin the first period, and Stags lost there centre half Woods when in a collision with a County striker and his own goalkeeper Langford.

At the start of the second half County nicked a goal back following sloppy Stags defending but the traffic was mainly one way with Jones, Lloyd, Sleath and Arnold going close with shots on goal.

Zaccarius nicked a goal with 20 minutes to go following confusion in the County penalty box which would seal the victory.

This was a good overall Stags performance with Lloyd and Jones solid in the centre of midfield and surrounded by competent performances all round.

It was also good to see the return of Anton Brown out for a year with a serious knee injury sustained at Chesterfield in a reserve match who got 10 minutes at the end.

Team: Langford, Macintosh, Woods, Rennals, Holmes, Arnold, Lloyd, Jones, Sleath, Heron, Zaccarius
Subs Used: Beastall,Brown
