KEVIN Pilkington and Jake Buxton will be among a youthful Mansfield Town side that plays a friendly at Alfreton Town tonight.
The game will start at 7pm as Alfreton have no floodlights at the moment.
Pilkington has asked to play as he wants to sharpen up before the big kick-off on Saturday while Buxton has been asked to marshal a young defence as part of his football education.
"Kevin has played in most of our pre-season friendlies," said manager Keith Curle.
"But he is a good professional and still feel he wants another outing. That perhaps tells you how well we have defended as a unit.
"The one criticism I have made of Jake Buxton is that he isn't vocal enough on the field.
"So as part of his learning curve I will send him out tonight with three young lads and get him to organise the back four."
Trialist striker Marvin Robinson is again ruled out with an ankle injury.
Darren Barnard looks set to play tonight and continues to train with Mansfield to regain full fitness even though there is unlikely to be an offer on the table for him.
