Molby Closing In On Christie mansfieldtown.net

Kidderminster Harriers boss Jan Molby has revealed he could be about to offer former Mansfield striker Iyseden Christie a permanent deal

Christie, who was released by the Stags in the summer, has been training with the Harriers this week. The 27-year old, who began his career at Coventry City, is currently out of action after breaking his foot at Bury in March earlier this year.

The Coventry based man has a metal screw inserted into his foot which is due to be removed in the first week of August. Although the striker would not be fit until September, Molby has confessed he is prepared to wait for him to recover in order to sign the man he has been chasing for a while.

"He is a player I have tried to sign before and I would like to bring him here permanently ," Molby said.

"He has a very strong physical presence and can score goals at this level.

"He has joined up with us to do some pre-rehabilitation work ahead of having the screw removed from his foot on 2 August. With all being well he would be looking to be fit within a month or so.

"I would like to sign him and, if we can agree terms, he would be a great signing for us. Although it would mean we would have to wait a month for him to get back to full fitness, he is the type of player I would be prepared to wait for."

Christie notched nine goals in 27 starts for the play-off finalists last season.
