Stags close on defensive duo
Teamtalk Stags are closing in on the signatures of two new players, believed to be central defenders, despite the current worries over ITV Digital money. Stuart Watkiss is going ahead with his plans as far as possible, assuming no TV money will be involved in his budget, and has spoken to both players' agents this week. He said: "I have been busier this week than any other week since I took over with phone calls to agents and I am hoping we can get a couple of new faces in the building over the next 10 days which would give us all a boost. "We are still in limbo as far as TV money is concerned but we have to press on regardless and I am sure I am not the only manager working to a tight budget. "I need to find the right players under our wage structure which fit the criteria. "It may mean at some stage that we have to get players out to get other players in. But if the TV money does happen then there will not be such a rush to get players out the door." |
