CURLE REACTION
14th February 2004 18:58

It's been a busy week, an opportunity for us to come together as a squad, and the sign of a good team is how you react to these things and I thought today we deserved the victory.

Liam's goal was a superb strike. It was what the game was crying out for - a little bit of quality. I needed him in and around the ball and that's why I played him in the middle today. He was back focused. It hasn't been easy for him, and we do understand the problems and the anxieties that he's had, but he was at his best today.

Artell was brought back in to give us a strong physical presence.

Pacquette needed a goal. I did think he was going to score today. He was poor last week, but he's always got a goal in him and today it was a fantastic header.

Junior took a knock in training on his foot and it was painful and rather than risk losing him for a few games, I left him out so hopefully he'll be back next week. Neil MacKenzie and Bobby Hassell were also unavailable due to injury. Tom Curtis will be out for another two to three weeks. He's had his cartilidge trimmed - they probably had to take out more than first expected, hopefully just another two weeks.

Liam and Leroy needed a big performance in the middle of the park, and they didn't disappoint, I thought they were magnificent - that was the spark we were looking for. Likewise with the back four - I thought we looked solid.

There's a belief and desire back in the players. I could tell in the hotel this morning and in the changing room before the game. From my point of view, I think it's a good time to be playing Doncaster next week.
