Mansfield boss Keith Curle has revealed plans to strengthen his squad - but stressed he is in to rush to make an immediate signing.

Curle, seeking an immediate return to Division Two, saw Saturday's clash with Swansea postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Field Mill.

And with Mansfield lying fourth in the table, Curle intends keeping his finger on the pulse of the transfer market.

He said: "I've been on the phone a lot lately contacting lots of clubs to see about bringing in some new players although there is no immediate rush.

"It isn't always straightforward because there are the player's wages to consider and if he is coming from a higher division he may not feel comfortable playing football in the Third Division when he could be earning big money by not playing but being associated with a big-name club.

"We'll keep searching though. It's good to keep on top of the situation for those instances when you need the help but there is no rush at the moment."
