NEW SURFACE AT FIELD MILL
25th April 2002 20:08

New surface for Field Mill
Teamtalk, 25 Apr 2001
The troublesome Field Mill pitch will be dug up this week in an attempt to cure the waterlogging problems of recent months.
The Stags' passing game of earlier in the season was severely disrupted after the New Year with areas of the pitch becoming bogged down in water and then badly uneven when it dried.
"We've had the consultants in and they've said it's not down to drainage," said chairman Keith Haslam.
"Apparently there are just a couple of areas which have a black layer six inches below the surface where the water can't drain as the earth has become compacted and water retained on top.
"We need to dig those up and get some air to them which should cure that problem and then we will relay a new pitch."
