JONES AND HURST JOIN ILKESTON ON LOAN
18th October 2003 15:11

mansfieldtown.net reports that Andy Jones and Mark Hurst will be going out on loan to join Ilkeston Town for a month while Andy White, fresh back from Boston United, is look set to be going to either Alfreton Town or Norwich Victoria.

Stags boss Keith Curle said that these temporary deals are in no way a means of freeing up funds for incoming players as had been speculated by some members of the press but to get the young stags who are too good to play in the Under 19's some competitive experience in a match situation.

“I have not been instructed by the chairman to off load players to free up funds” said Curle “It is that since we have opted of the reserve league the players that are too good for the under 19 squad are finding that they are not getting enough competitive football and these transfers will see them in proper first team action where the result of the game does matter” he added.
