Report by John Street

Stags entertained their local rivals at Forest Town in tight encounter on Saturday morning.

Stags flew out of the traps and Lloyd tore at the visitors defence panicing the Spireites into conceding a couple of early corners which Buxton headed both of them just over the bar.

Following a foul on Lloyd the visitors conceded a free-kick which Hurst chipped into the Box for John-Baptiste who headed home.

Minutes later Mitchell was played through but fired just over the bar and Arnold had a chance but lobbed over with the Chesterfield keeper advancing.

That is basically where the Stags seemed to lose their way when the passing football disappeared, and suddenly the game became a scrappy affair with Chesterfield battling there way back into the game, without actually scoring an equaliser.

Fine saves by Coates and desperate tackles and clearances by Jones and John-Baptiste and
the game eventually petered out with the 1 - 0 win to the Stags, whick keeps their unbeaten league record intact and they remain at the top of their divisional league.
