FORMER Blades hero Keith Curle was among customers at a Sheffield casino who were questioned by police after a woman suffered a broken leg in a disturbance.
Mr Curle, centre back for Sheffield United in the 2000-1 season, was at Napoleon's Casino on Ecclesall Road South. Police were called after a woman reported an assault in the early hours.
A man and woman were arrested after the incident but police would not disclose their names. They were released on bail and are due to report to a city police station next week to hear whether charges will be brought against them.
The woman was detained in the Northern General Hospital, with a broken leg.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Mr Curle, aged 39, who won three caps for England's B team (correction: full team - Martin), now manages Mansfield Town FC.
He was an immediate hit with Sheffield United fans after joining from Wolver-hampton. His previous clubs include Manchester City and Wimbledon. He was unavailable for comment today.
Dave Allen, chairman of A&S Leisure Group, which runs Napoleons, said: "We pride ourselves in having very little trouble in Napoleon's Casino and attracting a very well behaved clientele.
"We are aware of an isolated incident that is under investigation and we are assisting the police with their inquiries."
Mansfield Town chairman Keith Haslam denied any knowledge of the incident, but said he would be questioning Curle on his return from Spain on Monday.
"I will look into this when Keith gets back . It's not good for your staff to be involved in things like this, but I don't know if anything untoward has happened."
Witnesses should call DC Kevin Hanson at Hammerton Road: 0114 220 2020.
